History
Maurice Bouval (1863-1916) was a renowned French art nouveau sculptor, who gained recognition for his work at the 1890 Exposition Universelle in Paris. He was also a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais and he is highly sought after by collectors.
Pandora’s box, originating from Greek mythology, was a gift given to Pandora with strict instructions never to open it. Driven by an irresistible curiosity, she eventually lifted the lid, releasing all the evils—such as sickness, sorrow, and suffering—into the world. Yet, amidst the chaos, hope remained safely inside the box, offering a glimmer of comfort to humanity. This enduring myth is often referenced to illustrate the complex nature of curiosity, caution, and the enduring presence of hope even in dire circumstances.
