About Us

Our History

Gorringe Antiques is a family business based in the beautiful Sussex countryside, near Brighton seaside, specialising in the sale and acquisition of genuine 20th-century antiques. For more than 30 years the family business has been collecting French art nouveau and art deco antiques, designed by world-famous artists such as Rene Lalique, Emile Galle, Muller Freres, Louis Majorelle, Daum and other great designers. The business was founded by Christel Gorringe in 1982, starting from what was essentially a bedroom. Christel moved to England in the 1960’s to marry her childhood sweetheart, soon after she discovered her passion for collecting various arts and crafts. Assisted by her late husband and children, over the years, the Gorringe family grew the business to become a leading one-stop-shop for fine art & antiques. Today, the highly respected business is managed by antiques specialist Mark Gorringe, her son.
