This exceptional bronze sculpture created by the renowned artist François Linke (1855-1946) features a captivating Art Nouveau nude figure in a reclining pose, possibly inspired by the character of Ophelia.
Larger bronzes created by François Linke are rare to find, the bronze is in an excellent condition with superb casting and a beautiful warm gilding.

François Linke came into the world on the 17th of June in the year 1855, in the quaint Bohemian town of Deutsch Pankraz, which is currently recognized as Jitrava in the Czech Republic.
Historical records indicate that Linke underwent training as an apprentice under the tutelage of a skilled cabinetmaker named Neumann, successfully completing his apprenticeship in the year 1877.
Arbeits-Buch documents that he resided in Vienna from July 1872 to October 1873, coinciding with the International Exhibition that took place in the city in 1873. After visiting Prague, Budapest, and Weimar, he eventually made his way to Paris in 1875, where he decided to stay and make it his home.
