Le Baiser (The Kiss) is an Art Nouveau large cast pewter centrepiece created by Max Blondat (1872-1925), model number H.845.
The piece features twin lily pad bowls gracefully positioned on either side, framing a central depiction of water nymphs tenderly embracing.
It bears the signatures “M Blondat” within the cast and the Siot foundry mark, this design was also available in a gilt bronze variant. The overall width measures 61cm (24 inches).

HISTORY
Max Blondat (1872–1925) was a prominent French artist and designer. In 1906, he was among the founding members of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs, an influential organization dedicated to advancing decorative arts in France.
He worked with various materials including wood, stone, terracotta, glass, and bronze.
During World War I, Blondat served in the military, He passed away in Paris in 1925.
Foundry Siot Paris
The Siot-Decauville foundry was active from approximately 1860 to 1920. Under the leadership of Edmond Siot-Decauville, the establishment not only produced metalworks but also showcased its creations through exhibitions held both in his personal salon and at the foundry itself.
