History
The cathedral of Strasbourg stands as a breathtaking testament to the harmonious blend of Gothic styles. Renowned as a prime example of Gothic architecture.
Architect Erwin von Steinbach devoted many years to its design, beginning in 1277 and working tirelessly until 1318. His vision was carried forward by his talented son Johannes, and later by his grandson Gerlach, each adding their own touch of brilliance.
Although their ambitious plans for two towering spires were never fully realised, the cathedral’s existing grandeur continues to inspire awe and admiration, standing as a lasting symbol of medieval craftsmanship and spiritual devotion.
